Blendtec Home TB-621-BHM The Professional's Choice 1,560-Watt Total Blender, Black
Product Description
When the blending button is pushed on the Smart-Touch tec-nology digital touchpad, a preprogrammed cycle automatically speeds up and slows down to draw ingredients into the 29,000 rpm blade and thoroughly blend all the ingredients. It shuts off when the cycle is complete, so recipes will turn out perfect every time. The blending jar is our famous patented square jar design, just like our professional models used in U.S. coffee, juice, and restaurant chains, with a 32-ounce capacity and a one-year warranty. The patented two-prong stainless-steel blade carries a lifetime warranty. The blender has a powerful commercial-quality, 1,560 watt 3 HP direct-drive motor and comes with an ice-crushing guarantee and a three-year warranty on the motor and base. The Total Blender replaces these other kitchen appliances: Grain mill, juicer, bread machine, ice-cream maker, smoothie maker, blender, milkshake maker, coffee grinder, ice crusher. And it does the job better than the individual products, for a fraction of the cost. Material used : BPA free Copolyester.

Arguably one of the best blenders, but value debatable
I've had this Blendtec model for just shy of a year, and use it 3-4 times a week. I primarily use it for protein shakes, including frozen bananas, and green shakes, with hard to pulverize leafy greens. I also use it for making baby food including sweet potatoes. I'm up to 168 cycles and it has performed great in all of them. Based on my experience, below is a summary of the positives and negatives:
Positives:
Compared to a fairly high end Oster blender I own, the Blendtec does a significantly better job blending up both frozen bananas and leafy greens. The Oster took longer, left greens in parsley size pieces, and added a lot of air to the shake. The Blendtec minimizes extra air and gets the job done quickly. For baby food, there simply is no comparison since a regular blender would croak trying to blend up 3 sweet potatoes.
Since I use the blender in the mornings, cleanup was a key consideration. It is very simple with the Blendtec since there are only three parts to clean and the blade is fixed. Sometimes I put water and soap into the jar and blend for a few seconds. But more often I just use water and a brush and it's done in a few seconds.
The blender is fairly compact considering its power, and fits under standard cabinets. The new jar is BPA free and doesn't scratch easily based on my experience.
Negatives:
It is fairly noisy as others have noted. If you've heard a burr coffee grinder, I'd say it's a notch above that depending on what one is blending. It could wake people in the house up, and will make the TV hard to hear, but it's 20-30 seconds a day so I think the noise issue has been blown out of proportion.
The build quality is fine and I haven't had any issues. For the price, Blendtec could use a little bit higher end materials on the base but it works.
The biggest negative to me, and why I rated it 4 stars, is the value. It is simply hard to justify spending 8X what a decent Oster or other mainstream blender would cost. While the motor and parts are higher quality, there is no way they are 8X. Clearly there is a lot of margin built into this as well as a large marketing budget. For me though, it came down to getting higher performance and unfortunately, there are not a lot of choices other than Vitamix. I didn't like the size or style of the Vitamix and it is even more expensive.
In summary, I have no regrets about my purchase and continue to enjoy using the Blendtec. It is a premium product at a premium price.
AMAZING product
I use my Blendtec every day to make my morning smoothies. I absolutely LOVE this product. It is a little loud when running, but that is OK since this is the last/best blender I will purchase. If something happens to this one I will replace it with another Blendtec. It fits on the countertop and under the cabinets above, unlike some other blenders. This is one very powerful blender.
Fantastic Blender
I've waited to review this till I had a chance to use it over several months, and the 'honeymoon' period had ended.
First, this is a fantastic blender. I probably consume about 100% more fruits and vegetables now thanks to the smoothie/raw juice settings. I just put whatever I want into the unit, press the button, and about 1 minute later it's done.
This model has plenty of power, and I've yet to hear it sound like its having troubles blending anything I've put into it.
It also is extremely easy to clean. I simply rinse the lid and canister in hot water when I'm done. No muss and no fuss.
I'm also happy with the size of it. It neatly sits on the counter top and doesn't take up a bunch of room. It is also small enough to fit easily in my cabinet. The black and chrome exterior with the blue LED readout is also nice looking.
Like the other reviews; however, it can be a bit loud. Not painful rock concert loud by any means, but loud enough that it's probably not a good idea to blend something at 2 AM while others are sleeping. ;)
Different versions?
I just want to point out that while shopping for a Blendtec blender I realized there are several different versions out there. After doing some homework, I found the versions came down to two main differences:
1) Two different button configurations
The HP3A model has the older set of buttons where there are four programmable presets, kind of like radio presets in a car stereo. The version I received on this page, the TB-621-BHM, has a much improved button layout where several foods are programmed into their own buttons (smoothie, juice, etc.) as the product image suggests. However, the buttons have a stainless steel appearance, unlike the product photo's color matching appearance.
By the way, the Blendtec website currently sells this as their latest version, so Amazon's "TB-621-BHM" model number is actually Blendtec's "TB-621-20".
2) Two different facet logos
The TB-621-BHM I received has a plain Blendtec logo (swirl in a house) on a silver label. The older HP3A model also has this label. This is where the product photos are inaccurate. The product photos show a "Blendtec home" on a color matching label. To see what the blender on this page REALLY looks like, go see Blendtec's "TB-621-20" (black) on their website. I believe what is shown on this page is yet another model, the HPA.
I was very happy to receive the unit with the updated buttons and plain silver label (and BPA-free jar! Older versions had a jar made with BPA). Overall a very good product that churns out smoothies as smooth as "professional smoothie restaurants" (no surprise there). It's not as loud as I expected after reading a few of the reviews emphasizing noise. Its decibel output is akin to a typical vacuum cleaner.
It just works!
Bought this for my girlfriend who's recently gone 100 % vegan. Looked at a lot of positive reviews before buying but was still surprised by just how good this blender really is. Everything we make in it comes out nice and smooth without any hassle.
It's a little noisy but who cares... It's only on for 30 secs at a time.
Highly recommendable!
